A Winter's Day in New England

Oh, the joys of owning a dog in the winter! We have been taking almost daily walks, it depends on the wind chill, and Brandy is loving it. The colder it is, the faster and more perky she walks. There is always something to smell along the way. She burrows her head into piles of snow looking for animals. It is so cold, most days in the 20's, that I want to walk as fast as possible. She will be off to a good pace then suddenly stop to smell or look at something. Okay, it's colder for a human so I want to go pretty fast to keep warm. I don't have a natural fur coat like Brandy. I noticed one day she was limping after our walk so I came to the conclusion that the salt and sand on the streets is bothering her. Ever since that day, I have been washing off her feet in warm water when we get home. Not that she likes it of course! She sees me with the bucket and tries to get away from me. Well that's the only way she is getting a walk, if I can wash her off afterwards. Until next time...
